Hailed by the Times of India as India’s Best North Indian Restaurant and winner of the Coca Cola golden spoon, Punjab Grill has arrived in Singapore to claim its devotees. Owned by celebrated restaurateur Jiggs Kalra, dubbed “the Czar of Indian Cuisine”, Punjab Grill brings its acclaimed barbeque cuisine to its new location at the Marina Bay Sands. Its bright and contemporary furnishings may suggest a modern sensibility, but in fact, it uses ancient cooking techniques and presents dishes once served to royalty.
The hallmarks of Jiggs Kalra’s cuisine is his ability to elevate street food and combine traditional flavours to the level of haute cuisine, especially Punjabi food, with its Hindu, Muslim, Sikh and Pathan influences. Another remarkable feat is having revived lost recipes and ancient cooking styles for the modern diner. One such example is the signature Kebab, which is cooked using not just one, but four ancient techniques of grilling. While the grill is of course the star here, the menu also features curries, rice, breads and desserts for vegetarian and non-vegetarian diners.
